Bigger, Stronger, Faster

In the steroid documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster there’s an interesting conversation that occurs between the filmmaker and his mother.  The exchange looks something like this…

Mother (trying to convince her son that using drugs is wrong)–The Bible tells us how to live.
Son–Yeah, but the Bible doesn’t tell us everything we need to know.
Mother–Sure it does.
Son–The Bible doesn’t tell me how to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Well, it’s hard to argue with that statement.  No, the Bible doesn’t tell us how to look like The Arnold.

And for those who are only trying to questions like that, the Bible will always be terribly disappointing.

The Bible can’t teach you how to drive.  But it can teach you that there are more important things in life than a new car.

The Bible can’t help you with your math homework.  But it can teach you the principle of respect for your teachers and instill the work ethic you need to succeed.

The Bible can’t show you how to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.  But the Bible can show you to appreciate more in this life than how you look.

The Bible actually does have all the answers for your life, if you’re asking the right questions.
